ABOUT THE ROLE:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Controller to join our team. The ideal candidate will have 5-7 years of accounting experience, with a strong background in financial forecasting, reporting, and management; internal controls; and cost management. Experience in the apparel industry and with an early-stage company is highly preferred. This role is pivotal in ensuring the integrity of our financial statements, implementing robust internal controls, managing audits, and optimizing cost structures to drive financial efficiency.

This role is based out of our headquarters in Denver, CO.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

FINANCIAL REPORTING & MANAGEMENT
  • Oversee all aspects of financial reporting, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, tax filings, and audits.
  • Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures.
AUDIT MANAGEMENT & COMPLIANCE
  • Manage the annual external audit process, acting as the primary liaison with auditors and ensuring timely completion.
  • Maintain accurate and well-documented financial records to support audits and compliance reviews.
  • Ensure adherence to SOX compliance (if applicable) and other relevant financial regulations.
  • Design and implement internal controls to safeguard company assets and mitigate financial risks.
  • Develop and document process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial reporting.
COST CONTROLS & BUDGETING
  • Work closely with operations and supply chain teams to implement cost control measures.
  • Monitor and analyze cost variances, margins, and profitability.
  • Assist in the preparation and management of the annual budget and forecasting processes.
LEADERSHIP & CROSS-FUNCTIONAL COLLABORATION
  • Lead and mentor a growing finance and accounting team (if applicable).
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to provide financial insights and strategic recommendations.
  • Work closely with production, supply chain, and sales teams to ensure financial alignment with operational goals.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience, with a strong focus on financial reporting and internal controls.
  • 3-5 years of experience managing audit processes, including external audits and compliance reviews.
  • Prior experience in the apparel industry or manufacturing sector is highly preferred.
  • Prior experience with an early-stage, venture-funded company is highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of cost controls, inventory accounting, and margin analysis.
  • CPA or CMA certification is a plus.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems, accounting software, and Excel.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.

Salary Range: $115,000 - $125,000
